FARUK (25 yrs) our ‘bodyguard’, escorting and ‘protecting’ us in our walks. He was abandoned in a cemetery and was helped by a government institution. Ali took him to live with us three years ago. He has learned to help to make furniture in our workshop, he is in charge of the gate when we have special events (he is more strict than the Swiss police!). With love and patience he has become less aggressive, in fact he is always happy, laughing a lot, he loves food, playing badminton and cricket. In January 2009 he found a dog puppy and proudly has officially become a ‘Dadu’ taking care with passion and love of the dog. He is building a little house and makes sure that all the other children handle ‘Shipu’ (the name of the dog) gently. It is amazing to see what a positive effect feeling needed and responsible for someone else has had on Faruk. Nowdays Faruk is very acttive in the new land, he usually works and prefers to sleep there in the little house at least three nights a week. |
